Una diva Cubana/A Cuban Diva

Anaís Abreu tiene una risa contagiosa.  Le gustan los dicharachos, los refranes, una buena tertulia entre amigos.  Es una cubana completa, con ritmo, belleza, y sentido del humor, pero además posee un talento indiscutible, y un completo dominio sobre el escenario.  Una vez ha hecho su presencia, es imposible quitarle los ojos de encima.  Y cuando su cálida voz llena el local, es como la señal de que ya todo lo que allí respira es suyo desde ese momento.

Si quien lea estas líneas es cubano, probablemente ha escuchado a las divas del “fílin”más celebradas de Cuba, tales como Olga Guillot, Elena Burque, Moraima Secada, Omara Portuondo,  etc.  Aunque ya dos de ellas, Elena y Moraima, no están entre nosotros, su público permanece devoto.  Sus voces eran y son esencialmente cubanas, como su estilo, su interpretación, su entrega al público, y a la canción.

En Anaís Abreu las tenemos a todas ellas juntas.  Pero además, Anaís aporta una sensualidad única, tan evocativa y cúlida como la brisa nocturna entre las palmas.

Pero Anaís está fuera de nuestro alcance porque vive en Cuba.  No se trata de una diva en el exilio sino una diva en la isla.  Pero sus grabaciones ya aparecen en el internet y en tiendas disqueras selectas.  Invito a todos a que visiten la página oficial de Anaís, http://www.anaisabreu.com/ y que la vean en un segmento de su nuevo video “Una decepción.”



Anaís Abreu has a contagious laughter.  She loves refrains, old sayings, and spirited conversations among friends.  She is a complete Cuban woman, with rhythm, beauty, and a great sense of humor.  She also possesses an indisputable talent and complete command of the stage.  Once she has made an entrance, it is impossible to take our eyes away from her.  And when the warmth of her voice fills the room, it is a sign that all that breathes within belongs to her from that moment on.

If the reader is a Cuban, you have heard the most celebrated Cuban divas of the “feeling” song, such as Olga Guillot, Elena Burque, Moraima Secada, Omara Portuondo, etc.  Though two of them, Elena and Moraima, are no longer with us, their audience remains devoted.  Their voices were, and still are, essentially Cuban, as were their style, their interpretation, and their surrender to the public as well as to the song.

In Anaís Abreu we have them all together.  But in addition, Anaís delivers a unique sensuality, as evocative and warm as royal palms in the night’s breeze.
